Completed a 2-day wet bolt install on the RV suspension yesterday. It was a little more time-consuming than anticipated and it delayed our New England trip by one day, but worth it. The design of the wet-bolt is to provide lubrication on stressing components of the spring and shackle assemblies and ultimately prevent failure and an accident. The shackles that come on the RV tend to wallow out fairly quickly and are thinner than theses new ones. Another piece of insurance on this long travel. While completing the install, I lubricated the EZ-lube bearings with Royal Purple NGLI #2.
Above are most of the parts. It doesn't show the rubber shear shackles. Below are side-by-side comparison of the components old vs new. Notice the grease holes on the new ones on the left?
The pic below shows the new shear hanger shackles and the ends of the springs with the brass insert. The older version had nylon inserts and most were worn through.
And this one shows how I pressed in the brass inserts.
Lastly, the completed job.
